2nd annual ‘Rid the World of Cerebral Palsy’ Golf Tournament coming up in Houston metro area

21 April 2011
I have a very special friend named Gary Lynn who graduated from Spring High School last year with a 4.0 GPA. But even more impressive is that he did so while confined to a wheelchair due to his cerebral palsy! Gary will be attending Tomball Lone Star College, and hopes to transfer to U of H for sports law with dreams of becoming a sports agent. With his tenacity and can-do spirit, I know he’ll be a stellar success!

Gary is such an inspiration to me, and to everyone else he meets. One just can’t help but feel touched by his positive, proactive attitude despite his daily living challenges. Always smiling, Gary even started his own foundation to help others with cerebral palsy—the Gary J. Lynn Foundation, which can be found on the Web at

The Foundation is pleased to invite the public to their 2nd annual “Rid the World of Cerebral Palsy” Golf Tournament to be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Gleannloch Pines Golf Club in Spring, Texas.

Funds raised will go directly to the Jan & Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute at Texas Children’s Hospital–Cerebral Palsy Division.

Besides supporting a worthy cause, Houston Texan Eric Winston will be hosting the tournament, and other well-known sports figures plan to attend, including former Houston Oiler Dan Pastorini and former Houston Astro J. R. Richard.

Sign-in will begin at 12:30 pm for the scramble format tournament, complete with a shotgun start at 1:30 pm. Price per player includes greens and cart fees, snacks, non-alcoholic beverages and dinner. Awards, including “Closet to Pin” and “Longest Drive,” will be presented at dinner.

Together, we can help rid the world of cerebral palsy!
